The refugees in Darfur had been hoping the hybrid UN/AU force would change the situation on the ground in Sudan, but it isn’t having much effect.
Part of the reason is the laggard response time of those member nations involved. Part of it is simply what every peace-keeping mission seems to suffer from on the international scene: completely idiotic mandates, lack of backing by their governments, no self-sufficiency, and a lack of spine.
One commander in the hybrid force, Balla Keita (not sure of his rank), has suggested a need to deploy troops even if they aren’t properly trained or equipped—the situation is that bad.
In related news, the UN has accused Eritrea of trapping peacekeepers in the country and refusing to let them leave. They were ordered to reposition out of the country and into Ethiopia.

It seems the last of the Somali warlords has turned in his weapons, men, and vehicles to the Somali government and ordered his men to report to the government’s army training camps.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Courts faction have begun their campaign of terrorism, and still have the gall to demand to be included in government negotiations. They have shown they are no true political party, but terrorists who will do anything to stay in power.
Rather than helping change their country, they only want more blood.

President Ahmadinejad of Iran says 2007 is the year of the return of the Islamic Messiah, the 12th Imam. Like the world needed the first 11.
There’s speculation that Iran will reveal its new military nuclear capabilities by the Spring Equinox, which is when they plan their celebration of full nuclearization (and the Islamic Messiah may show up for it too).
The Islamic Messiah will come back, Jesus will be his Lieutenant, and they’re gonna get busy. They’ll have a full schedule, laying waste to Israel and infidels all over the world. Oh, and the Prince of Wales might even be tied in with them somehow. The royal crest of Prince Charles matches the description of the beast in the book of Revelations in the Bible it seems…

Perhaps someone is listening to sound advice from somewhere after all. President Bush’s new surge policy speech last week included comments about pursuing those who fuel the violence in Iraq, wherever they are. Glad to hear it.
Maybe the White House is reading my blog? That would be nice. They might learn a thing or two. Just in case they are, I suggest they read Santa Delivers: Ethiopia Kicks Crap Out Of Radical Islam On Christmas, which mentions the need to pursue cross-border operations in the Iraqi theatre of operations…
Every single mistake we have made in Iraq could have been avoided based on the knowledge and suggestions of Machiavelli and another fine strategic mind—Sun Tzu.
With more warships in the region and Israel supposedly preparing plans for a possible nuclear strike on Iran’s emerging nuclear threat, everyone ought to understand why an attack is increasingly likely…

The word has been around since some early ancestor decided he’d rather give up the mate or piece of meat he wanted rather than get his head bashed in. It’s based on a sound principle. Give-in, or die.
Unfortunately, somewhere in time (we can blame Jesus, I suppose), we decided it was nice to be, well, nice. And as a result, we later decided we ought to have some sort of accepted practices when it comes to war—so that when we have to stoop to it, it isn’t so distasteful to our sensibilities. And it worked until Ghengis Khan. And then it was downhill from there right up until Hitler, when it quit working altogether.

Thanks to the Ethiopian government, there are fewer radical Islamists in the world today. My Christmas wish came true. Thanks Santa.
