High on authority, protection behind a seal, and "protect your own" mentality of police force.
Routinely "getting away with cold blooded murder and brutality.
No one can justify 50 bullets against unarmed.
The police blood runs blue and innocents bleed red with no justice.
NYPD got away with murder.

Sandi---thanks for dropping by to read and share your thoughts. You know, I have read a couple articles online mentioning Miami and that very situation. Sadly, I don't think it is just limited to major cities.

Even small to mid-size cities (under 250,000 for purposes of my point) are seeing more and more such incidents. Law enforcement has always had its problems with corruption---any industry or sector does. However, I think everyone can see it is getting out of control. Certainly, the whole tendency to shoot first and ask questions later is spreading and quite alarming.

My father is a former Chief of Police, and I have a cousin serving as an officer, and other friends who are officers and prison guards or otherwise involved in law enforcement. I respect honest and decent members of the profession just as anyone should. However, even they will tell me from time to time how other officers are acting like idiots, are too trigger-happy, would rather shoot than risk getting into a tussle and so forth.

The law enforcement profession needs to start policing itself much better than it has.

Additionally, I must say that I don't think it is necessarily a race issue, as plenty of whites and other ethnic groups are on the receiving end. And, in the case mentioned in this post, one of the police officers involved was a black man.

I think what we're seeing is simply the beginnings of a police state, and this is the result. Police will get away with anything, but there is a token investigation or review to make it seem like there is concern about their actions when there really isn't any. Law enforcement is a profession rapidly leaking honor and integrity.

Thanks again for dropping by. Have a wonderful day.

I live in Miami where we have some of the dirtiest cops in America AND the dirtiest Chief who already wore out his welcome in Philly & NYC akaTimoney
When I watch the news & i hear " police related shooting today' I know that there is a 99% chance that a black person is dead & 85% chance they were unarmed and NOT committing a crime. No cop is ever prosecuted, much less found guilty. It's
called collateral damage just like this illegal war.
