CIA Report Blames Everyone But Whom It Should: Bill Clinton

August 22, 2007

The CIA finally released an internal investigation report relating to failures that led up to the attacks of 9/11 and poor follow-up in the years since. Blame is cast everywhere: former Directors, Deputy Directors, Counterterrorism Chiefs, and even President Bush and the NSA catch flack.

The person most responsible, former President Bill Clinton, gets a free pass.

You see, the report points out many things, such as a lack of staffing of CIA monitoring stations. Lack of funds. Lack of leadership. But, it was also the responsibility of Bill Clinton, who was responsible for those conditions.

He had opportunities to take out Bin Laden in the 90’s but chose not to. Despite all the talk about a lack of surveillance of Bin Laden and Al Qaeda, it was certainly well known who they were and what their ideology and goals were in the early 90’s. Part of the reason that intelligence agencies (civilian and military) were unprepared has to do with Clinton and other Democrats cutting the budgets and manpower of the military and gutting those agencies after the Persian Gulf War.

Any idiot could have told you that terrorism was going to increase in the years to come after a war in the Middle East which involved Western armies. Apparently, though, the agencies and leadership of our nation could not even live up to that low standard.

The problems cited in the report have many apparent causes, but the biggest cause of them all is not mentioned: our nation’s leaders had no balls, no will to fight. You can certainly fault both the administrations of elder and younger Bush for many things, but not on that account. Both were ready to take the fight to the enemy.

As elections for our nation’s leadership begin to roll around again, ask yourself, “Do we want more weak leaders who will leave our military understrength and under-funded?” Ask yourself if we can afford leaders who flip-flop on issues and do things for appearances. Both Clintons are guilty of that. Hillary has flip-flopped so much, one might think she was some sort of footwear meant for the beach.

Anyway, the report and the way it is all being handled is the same old, tired, load of crap that politics always seems to be. Blame some peons and let the jerks at the top off. While Bill was having fun with stogies and interns, our enemies were preparing to bring us down.

Now, we have the prospect of suffering under his wife—who accused everyone who saw through his lies as being part of “a vast right-wing conspiracy.”

We need to change the democratic process in this nation. It no longer offers us anything but the moral dregs of society in the way of leaders to choose from.
