Filming Assault On Homeless Man, Immigrant Criminal Elements

February 17, 2007

The disturbing trend among young people who think it makes them cool to film attacks on people needs to be dealt with harshly. Perhaps it is time to pass laws declaring that premeditated and intentional attacks for the purpose of filming it ought to be some sort of hate crime or receive harsher penalties?

We can not as a society ignore these sorts of things. Another sad example of what we as a society are allowing to pass for daily life in America is a recent attack on a homeless man in Corpus Christie, TX.

You look at the rampant violence and drug dealing and lack of border security, and you have to ask yourself: is it time we start thinking about new solutions? I wonder sometimes where we are headed as a nation? It appears more and more with each passing year that civility is disappearing here in America.

A large part of that problem is because of immigration. I am sure I will hear from many who would disagree, but it remains true. From the meth trade to gang violence, from video kicks and jihad to organized crime syndicates, immigrants are an increasingly large portion of the nation’s criminal element.

Here are some DHS (Dept. of Homeland Security) statistics on the number of illegals deported in 2005. It isn’t much when you consider how many are coming into the country. Less than 1.5 million of an estimated 11 million illegals entering the US every year are apprehended. Of those, less than 210,000 were removed.

Consider: if this is representative of the entire illegal immigrant populace, then 43% of all illegal immigrants are criminals. And that’s aside from the crime of entering the country illegally.

That translates into a yearly influx into America of 4,730,000 criminals entering the US every year! That’s 1,769,020 drug related offenders, and 331,000 criminals who are sex offenders or will commit other sex crimes.

If you are an American and aren’t outraged about this and the fact our government isn’t doing anything but talking about border enforcement—and sending incompetent people to the border—then there may be something wrong with you and your respect for your nation.

Seizures made in arrests involving illegal immigrants totaled $95.7 million in 2005. That is a lot of criminal enterprise.

We need to do more to help legal immigrants assimilate into society and gain respect for their new homeland. Respect for laws, for their neighbors, and for themselves. An added benefit from a stronger sense of belonging is that it fosters a sense of pride, which serves as a counter-weight against the lure of criminality.

We need to do more to crack down on the drug trade and punish people for assault and other violent crimes. If we don’t, soon, a lot of people are going to be feeling pushed into a corner, and we all know what happens when those sorts of things happen in any society.

We see it all around the world on the news every day.

The trends we’re seeing have bigger implications than just violent fads, drug use, and a lack of respect among young people and immigrants. I won’t engage in doom-speak, but I have studied history enough to see trends in America that are comparable with other nations and cultures and civilizations in history just prior to their decline.

Americans need to take an interest in every aspect of their society and culture and find things that we can do to bring about some sort of positive change. It’s not by any means a foregone conclusion that our nation is on the decline, but you can make a good argument for it.

What is important is that people recognize the potential pitfalls we face if we continue down the path we are on and do nothing to preserve those things which have made us a great nation.
