My Errant Mind

I’ve been a big fan of anime going back 20 years. I enjoyed Robotech (especially The Macross Saga), Vampire Hunter D, Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years and watched them regularly when I was younger.

I confess that over the last decade, I have watched far less than I used to. That’s about to change, as I’ve discovered a great anime show.

It’s called Gunslinger Girl.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you need to check it out.

I’ve been watching reruns of it on IFC (Independent Film Channel). The series was produced in 2003 and 2004 apparently. I’m surprised I’m just now seeing it. Wikipedia has a good introduction to the show if you want to check it out.

As I said, I haven’t been up on anime developments much of late. This series has rekindled an urge to rediscover the genre. I started wondering what some good websites might be to catch up on the world of anime?

There’s one really standout site I happened upon, called The Anime Blog. It’s a great site. Not only does it have a lot about anime and manga (Japanese comics), but it has some great related stuff on Japanese culture.

Speaking of blogs, if you want to find blogs about anime, stop off at AnimeBlogger.net for a wide selection. They also offer free bloghosting for anime related blogs. How cool is that?
