Finally, someone is starting to stand up to the constant concessions countries are making to immigrants of Islamic, Hassidic and other extreme or fanatic religious backgrounds.
And it is a small town in Canada. In Quebec of all places. It almost sounds surreal.
The town of Herouxville passed a measure which is aimed at informing new residents what to expect living there. It kindly mentions that you can’t do things like throw acid on women, stone them, and that they are allowed to sign checks and dance…

Understanding our fellow humans is something we all try to do.
Well, occasionally.
There are days when we would all rather we didn’t have any fellow humans. Since we’re stuck with the reality, however, we have to make the best of things.
Here’s a sobering thought I had the other day…
I don’t know what half the world’s population thinks, how they think it, or why.
I just know it doesn’t make much sense at times. OK, most of the time…

Anthropologists are busy arguing over whether or not the recently discovered and named Homo floresiensis is actually a new species or not. The latest tests seem to say they are a new species.
They’ve also nicknamed them Hobbits.
A new technique was used to help determine whether the Hobbit was human or not. Who cares? That’s not what I found fascinating…

Let’s face it, the US Federal Government doesn’t want to secure our borders. Especially not the one with Mexico.
Politicians and corporate CEO’s don’t want to give up cheap lawn care. And most Americans don’t want to pay more at the restaurant either.
And there’s the drugs. Even our law enforcement agencies are involved in the drug trade. On any given day in America, you can find attorneys, police officers, judges, DEA agents, and even Sheriff’s and their deputies either doing lines or selling them, smoking rocks or trading them for favors.
Even jailers are selling drugs to inmates. Your neighbor is probably tweaking right now.
The recent incident with armed paramilitary forces (perhaps even Mexican troops) from Mexico crossing into the US and winning a face off with our National Guard shows that our government just doesn’t give a damn about We The People. Our National Guard got caught with their pants down around their ankles, and allowed an armed incursion into our country.
Worse, they didn’t even fire a shot.
It’s time for We The People to start thinking about taking matters into our own hands. Our government won’t do anything, and we keep paying for it.

The world loves to read. Since someone has to do all the writing that gets read, writers are usually busy at their craft.
You don’t have a lot of time to look for tips on writing, creative inspiration, market resources, and writing conferences.
This is for you.
This installment:
- Very Short Novels — 299 words each. Anything more is waste.
- Dark Markets — The Online Market Guide for Horror Writers.

I’ve been a big fan of anime going back 20 years. I enjoyed Robotech (especially The Macross Saga), Vampire Hunter D, Captain Harlock and the Queen of a Thousand Years and watched them regularly when I was younger.
I confess that over the last decade, I have watched far less than I used to. That’s about to change, as I’ve discovered a great anime show.
It’s called Gunslinger Girl.

I happened across an article in which it is mentioned that there are a lot of young Iranians that don’t support Ahmadinejad, but would rally around the regime if attacked.
What’s really news about that?
One young person interviewed says Americans see things black and white, that our view of Iran is too simple:
“It’s a very black-and-white, a very simplistic view,”
— Shahryar Eivazzadeh
(Source: Yahoo! News via Associated Press)
Guess what Shahryar? It is a very simplistic issue. You either support your government or you don’t.
If you do, you are in the same boat as your racist, ridiculous and radical terrorist sponsoring president.

There’s an article on CNN.com about the Aurora Bridge in Seattle and the damage it’s doing to Dot Commers who work along the base. Seems people keep jumping off the bridge and committing suicide.
Therapists have to come in and help the traumatized workers who keep seeing bodies hitting the parking lots and hoods of cars.
Traumatized?
You’d think someone would have set up a “suicide cam” and be offering subscriptions by now. I swear, even Dot Commers are slacking these days. Next they’ll stop wearing sandals to work.

Microsoft Corp’s practices are slowly catching up to them. Earnings are down, Vista has met with all kinds of delay, and now the company is being sued.
It’s about time other software companies started attacking Microsoft. What’s the latest uproar over? The future of many operating systems, the Internet, and how you are able to choose your media experience.
This isn’t a joke. If you are wondering why so many people hate Microsoft with a passion, just read on…

OK, for some reason I keep coming across a lot of websites that mention going commando these days. Everyone knows the basic meaning of it, but not much more.
Even Wikipedia does little more than equate it with freeballing of military origins. Since a recent post had me thinking about topics related to warriors and warfare, I might as well jump in on this one.
You’re about to learn what all your friends only wish they knew. The real, true-to-life meaning and history behind the phrase.
Warning. This is not for the squeamish.

An article on Entrepreneur.com’s website caught my eye the other day. It’s about barter sites and the potential business opportunities they present.
I know, you thought barter disappeared with the advent of the Bronze Age, right?
Well, it didn’t. It’s still around. Sure, a lot of barter sites popped up in the late 90’s only to disappear shortly thereafter, but some managed to survive.
Technology kept pushing ahead, and new ideas were coalescing in the minds of barter proponents. The concept was merely biding its time while the search for improved viable solutions was underway.
As technology changed, the way forward became clearer. Solutions were needed, and entrepreneurs found them…

I thought I’d share a few of the best damn quotes, quips and advice ever given to humankind on the topic of warfare and warriors.
There’s no real reason or rhyme to which were picked, except that they espouse my own ideas on a matter best.
Or they make me laugh like a madman full of mirth.
In any case, these are the best damn quotes, period. Grab something cold and enjoy. I suggest a frothy pint of Guinness, some Boulevard, or a local favorite—Choc beer…
